Ascent PT & the AWP Campus
An amazing synergy
Ascent PT is housed and is part of the Ascent Wellness Campus - a sensory-friendly and accessible Milwaukee space that focuses on providing quality services that can directly support different areas of wellness.
Our approach in service delivery is invitational and we pay attention to any adaptations you may need/prefer in services, so that the things you learn in PT can be of added value in your daily life. We have training in neurodivergence, trauma-sensitivity and we always strive to learn more about being LGBTQIA+ affirming.
Ascent PT offers services while paying attention to the possible long term benefits of movement after the PT appointments end. Being an integral part of a wellness campus that focuses on somatic practices, Ascent PT has created opportunities for clients to continue their self-care after the appointments end. PT clients can, then, have access to self-pay packages for PT services and low cost clinically informed movement, nutrition, mindfulness and stress management services as well.
Read below what Ascent PT specializes in and why it is such a great addition to the AWP campus!
Why Ascent PT?
Physical health services are oftentimes provided in manners that are not informed on trauma-sensitivity and social determinants of health, especially during situations of chronic pain and after injury.
Our clinic originated and operates in a campus that focuses on therapeutic services for physical and mental health recovery. This is why our team focuses on serving our clients and supporting their nervous systems the best way possible.

Ryan Garman, PT
Ascent PT Lead Physical Therapist
Shane Slaasted graduated from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee with a bachelor's in Kinesiology. During his undergraduate years, he was a personal trainer/group exercise fitness instructor for college students and provided functional fitness/body mechanics education to the general population. After these years studying and working with clients, Shane followed his professional interests by obtaining a license as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA).
As a PTA, Shane has experience in serving patients with varying physical health concerns such as orthopedic, chronic pain, post-operative and joint replacement rehabilitation and TMJ and vestibular issues. In his past experiences with rehabilitation services and patient care, Shane was also a traveling PTA. Shane states that this role really helped him learn and adapt his own technical and communication skills as well as exercise instruction to meet each individual's needs.
With all of this experience and his true client-centered approach we welcome Shane to both our Ascent Wellness Program and Ascent PT clinic! He has an approach that both informs and empowers clients to learn about their own body mechanics and will listen to client’s preferences to create truly enjoyable sessions! Plus, he will have a focus on adaptive fitness and pain management! This means that he will meet you where you are at in terms of mobility and experience while also being aware of the injuries you’ve had in the past.
Interests! Shanes enjoys powerlifting, circuit training, running and biking as well as taking his two doggos for walks. He also enjoys exploring outdoor activities, and has a passion for camping, hiking, and fishing and is always open to a new adventure.
